The Girl from Atlantis

Photobucket

I have been dying to post this editorial from Vogue Nippon for a few days now, but I have been unable to do so up until now.  It features some instantly recognisable pieces from the McQueen SS10 collection along with others by Miu Miu and Versace.

Doing a shoot with the McQueen pieces under water is genius- it just works so well and harks back to the original SS10 show, 'Plato's Atlantis'.  And with the model styled to look like some sea-dwelling creature (check out the seaweed hair!), it brings to mind all those wonderful watery stories about mermaids, sirens, water nymphs and underwater cities...and I feel like the clothes really add to the illusion.  Enjoy.

In tribute to Alexander McQueen

The fashion world lost one of its greatest talents today, as Alexander McQueen was found dead at his London home. Above is his SS10 show, 'Plato's Atlantis', which in a ground breaking maneuver was streamed live from Paris via Nick Knight's SHOWstudio website. I can honestly say I was blown away when I saw this for the first time, and it is his work and vision in particular that had inspired me to pursue a career in creative production. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

RIP Lee McQueen xo
