Ablaze with Desire
I really tried to resist from posting these pictures, but I just kept seeing them everywhere and they are just so damn COOL (even The Vine think so apparently) Jewellery brand, MANIAMANIA have certainly set the blogosphere all aflutter. Bambi + amazing chunky jewellery + trippy 60's esque film stills = COOL. It would be rude not to post them.
And then I read about their influences...and it just got even better!
"We are inspired stylistically by the genre of 60s and 70s experimental film and the experimentation & free thought expressed in those eras, as well as other times and places! We are interested in the people who inspire the artistic processes from all generations, whether it be Anita Pallinberg, David Bowie or Cleopatra. We like to translate the ethos of a time, a piece of literature, or a song into our pieces. We are also very inspired by geology, like the incredible mineral crystal formations that we use in our collections."The look book/film on their website also has the same vibe. Check out the amazingness here.

Something Rich and Strange
Don't you love that feeling you get when you stumble across something that really inspires you?
Ellen Rogers has extraordinary talent, producing images that are both beautiful and haunting at the same time. Her photographs definitely have a Francesca Woodman-esque quality, but her camera trickery and perhaps the analog nature of the photographs also makes me think of the famous Cottingley Fairies shots. But also of those spooky snapshots where someone claims to have captured a ghost or some other paranormal activity on film. What makes them even more special is the fact that they are all analog. No Photoshop what so ever! Which makes them even more fascinating.

More recently she seems to be making more frequent forays into the world of fashion photography, shooting for various editorials and a look book for Charlotte Olympia.

I would really like a birthday party like this some day- in a room filled with sugary pink balloons. Very Sofia Coppola!
