Abbey Lee Mania

The beautiful Abbey Lee Kershaw graces the March issue of Vogue Australia, available on February 3rd. Abbey Lee is hot property at the moment, and quite rightly so! She has walked for many deisgners this past year including Chanel, Balmain, Versace, Etro, Lanvin and Elie Saab to name but a few. And who can blame them? She is absolutely stunning. I really love her makeup and the bright green nail varnish on the this cover. I can't wait to see the editorial shots.

The Good, The Bad and the Rest: Taylor Momsen Style Watch

Inspired by yesterday's post, I've put together some examples of how Taylor gets is so right, and how sometimes it all goes so so wrong!

Photobucket

Statement hot pink mini and cropped biker jacket- check. Totally on trend stripes- check. Taylor's signature aviators- check. I love all these outfit choices.

Photobucket
Tacky stripper shoes and suspenders, looking like you're an extra from Twilight, eyeliner over-kill and...what is that she's wearing, a nightie?! Ms Momsen shows us how not to do rocker chic.

Taylor Momsen for New Look

Taylor Momsen, who plays Jenny Humphrey; the resident wild child of Gossip Girl, is the latest celebrity to grace the New Look campaign. I'm more a fan of how she is styled in Gossip Girl than I am of her personal style, (although it's hard to tell which is which these days!) I think she tends to try a bit too hard some times at being a "rock chick" (God I hate that phrase! Makes me cringe!) and ends up looking like a Courtney Love wannabe. Although she does on occasion pull out some outfits that err on the right side of the grunge look. And I do like what I have heard of her music. She has a lot going on, and she seems very confident within herself for a girl so young and I admire that about her. But please Taylor, step away from the eyeliner...and the suspenders for that matter!

What do you think of Taylor in the New Look campaign? Does it make you want to shop the collection? I am quite tempted by that Breton stripe top myself...

Golden Globes 2010

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I've seen a lot of photos from the red carpet on my travels through the Blogosphere today, so I thought it was only right that I share some of my favourites as well. Although, I have to say in general I was very underwhelmed by most of the choices, and I only really "loved" one look in particular...although maybe that has more to do with the person wearing it!

First of all we have Kate Bosworth wearing Calvin Klein at the post party. I think she could use a nice gold statement necklace, but on the whole I like the simpleness of this look. Especially her Alexander Wang inspired side plait.

Maggie Gyllenhaal wears a beautiful one shoulder peachy number from RM by Roland Mouret. I think the colour really works well with her pale complexion, and the slim fit of the dress really shows off her slim figure.

90210 star AnnaLynne McCord looks positively Goddess-like in her grecian inspired Lloyd Klein gown. I especially like the unusal cut out on the bust and her statement Rebecca Minkoff gold clutch and bracelet really finishes the look.

Anna Paquin wore my second favourite look of the night, with this stunning gold sequinned dress by Stella McCartney with a very daring plunging neckline- which I love! The texture of the sequins is very interesting- very art deco- it sort of reminds me of a Klimt. She looks very glamorous in floor length sequins, but has rightly has kept the accessories simple with her black box clutch.

Emily Blunt wears a strapless dusky pink gown by Dolce & Gabbana with delicate ruffled details. I think we will be seeing a lot of this look this summer, and I for one love this sweet sorbet palette.

Sandra Bullock was looking fabulous in a show stopping, jewel toned gown by Bottega Venetta . She got it spot on with this deep purple shade, which looked stunning on her.

And lastly, we come to my favourite look of the night. Ashley Olsen in Erdem! I must say I was a bit surprised to see her wearing this, as she usually goes to more classically glamorous looks, but I think this beautiful blue Erdem dress really works on her. The young, girlish silhouette really works on her petite frame...she looks sort of doll-like with her bob- in a good way! And the blue colour brings out her eyes. The intricate corsage details and the matching Manolos are amazing! Love it! But where was Mary Kate??

Divine Inspiration

I just discovered this insanely beautiful and impressive work from Studio Twogood, headed up by Creative Director and Stylist, Faye Twogood. Apparently she has a background in Art History and Fine Art like myself. Inspiring stuff!

Alice is the new Black

Photobucket
Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Two Alice posts in the space of a week?!" But I think this is worth shouting about! I just discovered that jeweller Tom Binns, has been commissioned by Disney to make a a collection to coincide with the release of the film in March, adding to the Wonderland hype. Each piece will apparently be based upon a different character- The Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter and Alice among others. Prices will range from $50- $1000, so there should be a little something affordable enough for everyone. I am a Tom Binns admirer, and in particular of the skull pieces he did a little while back, so I will most definitely be looking to get my hands on some of this.

Happy 2010!

Photobucket

Happy New Year! One lady that was certainly celebrating in style (as always), is Nicole Richie. Even though I love her as a blonde, I absolutely adore her new mahogany hue- it really suits her, and looks great of set against the gold sequin dress she is wearing, from her own Winter Kate collection.

Photobucket

Here she is pictured with Christina Aguilera- also sporting a relatively new do. I don't know about you, but I think the cut makes her look a lot younger. But maybe it's her just her new svelte figure?
